Era Civet

Creative Multipotentionalite

I’m Era Civet. When it comes to creativity, art, photography, drawing, web design and CG, it feels like I could do it all. And I have more ideas than I can ever realize. But I also lack focus and perseverance.I’m interested in almost everything that’s art, creativity or craftsmanship. I read book after book and follow many courses but I stop with a project when I’m halfway there, when I think ‘Okay, I think I know how this works’.So what happened is that I created many websites and aliases for every single project. Emilie Wapnick calls people like this Multipotentionalites. Inspired by her Tedtalk I decided to put all my creativity in one place: this website. Many projects will be ongoing or unfinished.A lot of the work here is posted before on different websites and social media. But all the work on this website is my own.My real name is Jurjen Bersee. And I lied a little bit when I said this website contains all my work. You can view the rest at bersee.cc.

Muse

Pencil drawings

These drawings are from an Instagram project. The internet is full of images that can be used for inspiration. But I was wondering what would happen if I ask people to send me images.I used a trick to always have the proportions right: I printed the photos on 10x15cm photo paper and with a pin I made small holes through the photo onto the drawing paper.

Computer Graphics

Computer generated art

These drawings are made by giving drawing instructions to the browser of my computer using a programming language called Javascript. If you want to start with Creative Coding like this, I recommend this course on Domestika by Bruno Imbrizi.

Blender

3D Modelling

It's amazing that Blender is free software. It is so incredibly capable of rendering fantastic scenes and animations.I'm an absolute beginner with this software. As a starting point I'm following (in my own very slow pace) two courses at Udemy.com.

Digital color

Tablet drawing

I'm still struggling with color in my digital drawings. I usually work in black and white with clear lines and a hatching technique for the shadows.I find it very difficult to blend the different color layers. I must be doing something wrong, but that is the reason that I usually stop after one attempt of color drawing on my tablet.

Digital hatching

Tablet drawing

When drawing with a pencil I use pressure to make the shadows deeper. On a tablet I discovered a hatching technique that works well for me.The deeper the shadow, the closer the lines are. And I can also play with the direction of the lines to suggest body curves. This technique gives me predictable results. Very different from the digital color drawings which I don't seem to be able to master.Disclaimer: all these images are drawn upon request by the person in the picture, with age verification.

Creso

Oil painting

Atelier Creso is a school of art in Velp, close to where I live. I followed oil painting classes from a skilled teacher. The group was also very lovely, very friendly and creative people. This course was a birthday gift from my wife.Unfortunately after a few months Corona put a stop at physical classes. During Corona I intensified my athletics trainings. So when the classes started again, I had two things at the same evening. This is why my Gustav Klimt is still unfinished.

Creatures

Ink with InDesign

I have many sketches from when I was about 14-16 years old. Some of them I recreated with InDesign.I noticed that it's not always better to have clean lines instead of rough pencil lines.

zBrush

3D with zBrush

zBrush is a 3D tool that works like clay. You add, remove and transform your object in the same way. But of course with the advantages of working digital like undo and work with symmetry.Like Blender, this is very complex software. I started with an course on Udemy.com so now I'm able to create some 3D fruit and vegetables :)

Nature Photography

Natuurfotograaf.nl

I started photographing at a young age. With my love for nature, my favorite subject was obvious.Photography is more than a hobby. I used to be a professional photographer before I started my career in web development. To share my knowledge on this subject, I started a website about nature photography: natuurfotograaf.nl.

Nude Art Photography

Stylish.nl

As a photographer I am very happy to have worked with a lot of beautiful and very lovely models. From models who posed for the first time in their lives to fulltime professional models from around the world. As a photographer I try to influence to model as less as possible. If a model is shy or exuberant, it should be visible in the picture. My portfolio has it's own website: stylish.nl. You can also find information there on posing or working together.
